This lower-level renovation transformed a raised ranch home to meet full wheelchair
accessibility standards. All doorways were enlarged to 36"+. A barrier-free roll-in shower
with integrated transfer area and open-concept accessible vanity were built from the ground up.
The outcome: our client was able to leave a long-term care facility
and return to the comfort of his own home.

"Two Floors, One Family"
A multi-generational family welcomed elderly parents into their home — but the stairs made
daily life difficult. We structurally modified the floor opening between levels to install
a single-person residential elevator.
The outcome: the family stays together under one roof, with parents
safely accessing both floors on their own terms.

Passage House is a purpose-built supportive housing development designed from the ground up
for residents who require full accessibility. Jackman Construction partnered with R-Hauz
to deliver a building where barrier-free living isn't an afterthought — it's the standard.
Every unit was built to meet full accessibility requirements: wide doorways throughout,
open-plan layouts with clear turning radius, wall-mounted sinks with under-counter wheelchair
clearance, roll-in showers with multiple grab bars, and lever hardware on every fixture.
The result is a building that looks and feels like a home — not a facility. Clean finishes,
exposed mass timber ceilings, and self-contained kitchenettes give residents a dignified,
independent living environment built to last.
